Introduction
Hi, I'm Anshuman Dewangan, a perpetual learner and profuse note-taker. Since high school, I have taken thousands of pages of notes for 50+ (and ever-growing) courses and books across artificial intelligence, computer science, statistics, psychology, business, finance, economics, leadership, art, history, and more. I strongly believe that education should be freely accessible and have therefore hyperlinked my notes below. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Enjoy learning!
How I Study
- I take notes with my computer using Microsoft Word, 12pt Times New Roman font, and 0.5" margins. Topics are covered thematically as well as temporally according to when the material was taught. Lecture titles are bolded, underlined, and centered. Key words and concepts are followed by an em dash (—) along with their definitions. Sub-bullets are indented (without actually using bullets to avoid formatting overhead).
- For mathematical courses in which typing formulas is infeasible, I handwrite notecards with key formulas, derivations, and practice problems. Consequently, math courses are underrepresented in the course list above.
- Three days before an exam, I print out all the notes for the course (ie. a study guide) and read them four times: once every night (sleep improves memory) for three nights and once right before the exam. During each reading, I use my pencil to underline key words to help me maintain focus.
- The study guide serves as a comprehensive source of information that allows me to remember how broader topics relate but also remember minute details. During the exam, I access my study guide from memory; information synthesis can solve any problem with the right information and enough practice synthesizing information 🙂
